Getting the care you deserve.
About Me
Therapy, in my view, is a collaborative journey of self-discovery and healing. It's a process where we work together to understand your unique experiences, challenges, and goals. I don't take a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I integrate various evidence-based practices to tailor therapy to your specific needs and create a personalized path towards well-being. My goal is to empower you with the insights, skills, and resources necessary to navigate life's complexities and live a more fulfilling life. I see the therapeutic relationship as a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly and honestly, without judgment.
People come to counseling for a variety of reasons. You may be interested in finding happiness, be recovering from a loss, having difficulties in your relationship, trying to heal old wounds or just want to learn to handle difficult emotions. Whatever brings you in, I feel honored to give you the space to explore.
A Centered approach
My counseling experience has varied over time and ranging depending on practice type. I have been in practice for 9+ years and have experience working with adolescents and adults in mental health and substance dependence. I treat a variety of problems including anxiety disorders, depression, panic, stress management, bipolar disorder, anger management, addiction, attention deficit, sexual orientation, and relationship issues. I am qualified to provide individual and group therapy to clients with mental health and substance use concerns.
Motivational Interviewing:
If you're struggling with ambivalence about change, particularly with substance use, Motivational Interviewing (MI) can be incredibly helpful. MI is a collaborative approach where we explore your own reasons for and against change. It's not about me telling you what to do, but rather about guiding you to discover your own motivation for positive change. Through MI, you'll gain clarity about your goals, identify obstacles, and develop a plan that aligns with your values and aspirations.
DBT Skills:
While I don't offer full DBT, I do incorporate key DBT skills, particularly in the areas of emotion regulation and mindfulness. These skills can be invaluable in helping you manage intense emotions, reduce reactivity, and increase your awareness of the present moment. You'll learn practical strategies to cope with stress, improve communication, and cultivate a greater sense of inner peace.
Person Centered:
At the heart of my practice is a person-centered approach. This means I provide a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. I offer empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness, creating a therapeutic relationship built on trust and understanding. In person-centered therapy, you are the expert on your own life, and I am there to support you in discovering your own path to healing and growth.
Cognitive Processing Therapy:
For those who have experienced trauma, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) can be a powerful tool for healing. CPT is a structured therapy that helps you understand how traumatic experiences can affect your thoughts and beliefs. Together, we'll work to identify and challenge negative thought patterns related to the trauma, allowing you to process the event and reduce its impact on your life. CPT has been extensively researched and is highly effective in treating PTSD and other trauma-related challenges.
Psychodynamic Approach:
My work is also informed by a psychodynamic perspective. This means we'll explore how past experiences, particularly those from childhood, may be influencing your current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By gaining insights into these patterns, you can develop a deeper understanding of yourself and create lasting positive change.
Emotion Focused Therapy:
Through EFT, we'll explore your emotional experiences, identify any unmet needs or patterns of emotional avoidance, and work towards creating more adaptive and fulfilling emotional responses. This approach can be particularly helpful for individuals struggling with relationship difficulties, anxiety, and depression.
